Utribe festival 2009 (an unofficial website)intro
Utribe is a three-day festival of music, healing, arts, culture, ecological awareness and dance, to be held at Green Park, Conondale (ten minutes down the hill from Maleny), in the beautiful Sunshine Coast Hinterland, QLD from 25th to 27th September, 2009.
The Line- up:The buzz in the music industry has spread so far that acts have been contacting Utribe organisers asking to come on board to be part of this festival. For those that have missed out this time around Utribe would like to invite all interested musicians to jump online and buy a ticket to support the festival and bring their instruments along as there will be ample opportunities for jam sessions with billed acts later in the evenings throughout the festival. The awesome line-up includes Ash Grunwald, The Red Eyes, Dubmarine, Tijuana Cartel, Toothfaeries and many other bands who are just as excited as the organisers are about attending this unique festival. Set amongst rolling green hills and farmland, the site has its' own pebbled creek, plenty of shady trees and lush forest glades making it the perfect camping location. This is the first time that a music festival has been held at the site and it is expected that the event will be run annually after this, the inaugural festival, in 2009.Festival History:Before the Woodford Folk Festival moved to its current location, it was known as the Maleny Folk Festival and was held in the Maleny showground from 1987 until 1994.About a year and a half ago a crew of enthusiastic festival devotees headed up by long-time Woodford crew member Corey Skipper decided that the timing was right to create a brand new festival for the hinterland community and the concept of Utribe festival was born. The entire Hinterland community is excited about having a festival back in the beautiful Blackall ranges and the support we have received has been overwhelming. Within days of opening our new office Utribe organisers have been flooded with volunteer enquiries as well as offers of support and help from a variety of local businesses who are all very keen to be a part of the very first Utribe festival.
